China continues to lead global PVC capacity expansion, with heavy investments aimed at meeting growing domestic demand. By 2024, China will account for about half of global PVC
capacity additions, a trend that is reshaping the global market.
The GlobalData report, Global Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) Industry Outlook 2024 - Capacity and Capital Expenditure Forecast, shows that China is adding the most capacity, from 24.37
million tonnes/year in 2019 to 28.37 million tonnes/year in 2024. The major capacity addition will come from Tianjin Bohai Chemical Development Company's Tianjin PVC plant, which
will have an annual capacity of 800,000 tonnes by 2024.
Dayanand Kharade, Oil and Gas Analyst at GlobalData, said: "China's demand for PVC is expected to grow from construction and other major industries. To meet the growing demand,
the country will expand its PVC production capacity."
In recent years, China has been greatly expanding its PVC (polyvinyl chloride) production capacity. This expansion is driven by growing demand from various industries such as
construction, automotive, and packaging. The country has invested heavily in new facilities and technologies aimed at consolidating its position as a global leader in PVC production.
This trend not only meets domestic demand but also makes China a major exporter in the global PVC market.
